Panamax. A ship classification denoting a vessel that has been designed to meet the maximum allowed measurements for passage through the Panama Canal. A Panamax vessel will have a length of 965 feet, a width (beam) of 106 feet, a draft of 39.5 feet, and a height above water of 190 feet.
