attribution modeling. The process of determining the sequence by which a customer arrives at and purchases from a website, so that the sale can be "attributed" to a variety of influencing sites and not just the "last click," the site from which the customer clicked to reach the vendor's site. Attribution modeling allows a travel supplier to understand how customers reach a buying decision and thus better evaluate the results of its various marketing, publicity, and advertising efforts.
