twister seat. An airplane seat designed with a central spine and a series of parallel flanges or interior arms that will pivot from side to side to conform to the natural movement of the passenger seated in it. Regular seats are designed with a series of hinged but otherwise inflexible sections. The seat is intended for the economy section of aircraft.
Not currently in production, the twister seat was prototyped by the London firm Factory Design.
