Required Navigation Performance (RNP). According to the FAA, "a statement of the navigation performance necessary for operation within a defined airspace." In practical terms, RNP refers to a satellite-based navigational system for aircraft that enables airlines to fly extremely precise approach paths to airports, saving fuel and time, cutting noise, and reducing delays.
